The Castro-V Attack Copter is a People's Liberation Army of Venezuela medium attack gunship that is featured in Mercenaries 2: World in Flames.

The Castro-V is the last in the series of Castro helicopters, this one however, had the 40mm grenade launcher of the II stripped and has had its dual miniguns replaced by quad .50 caliber heavy machine guns.

However the .50 cals actually appear to be M60s but they have the same characteristics as other .50 cals in game even thought that real life M60s fire 7.62mm NATO rounds, not .50 caliber BMG.

This helicopters armament is really good for the enemies the player will encounter during the beginning of the game. The quadruple M60s make much quicker work of light vehicles and infantry than the miniguns and the 38 rockets give it a good amount of firepower.

The main drawback to this helicopter is the major lack of speed and maneuverability. The Castro V can barely dodge surface to air missiles and tank shells so extra caution should be taken when facing these adversaries.

Real lifeEdit

The Castro series is based off the Bell "Huey" UH-1D Iroquois. A helicopter widely used during the Vietnam War.

  • Originally the Castro series were going to be called "Endriago," which is Spanish for monster or beast.
  • The Castro-V Attack Helicopter is named after the famous Cuban revolutionist Fidel Castro.
